These photographs are of us in our home in Jersey City. It was customary for our parents to give us birthday parties while we were very young. My mother would bake her customary three-layered cake and buy us birthday hats to wear for the occasion.

The party of Sandy below right was to celebrate her first birthday. Doesn't she look happy eating her birthday cake? (My eyes are tearing up as I write this because she is no longer with us).

I thank God for our parents for showering love on us. I am also greatful that they had the foresight to take plenty of pictures not only on our birthdays, but at other times as well.

You can see our first TV set in the first and fifth photos; it looks to be a 21 inch black and white unit. The first show I remember seeing on TV was the Howdy Doody Show (1947 - 1960). I was also amazed when I saw my first cartoon.

(All photos are from the early 1950s to early 1960s).
